ABOUT THE ENERGIZED HOME
Educate - Evaluate - Connect |
The residential energy market moves fast and talks louder than it thinks. Solar
companies want to close deals. Installers want to get on the schedule. Manufacturers
want you sold on their brand. Somewhere in the middle of all that noise is your home —
your largest asset, your family’s shelter, and the place where a poorly designed system
will remind you of its mistakes for the next twenty years.
The Energized Home was built to be the one voice in the room that isn’t trying to sell you something.
“We work for you — not the installer, not the panel manufacturer, not the utility company. Our job is to make sure what you’re being sold is actually right for your home before a single contract is signed.”
We assess proposed solar arrays, battery energy storage systems, EV home charging
stations, smart electrical panels, backup generators, and whole-home microgrid
configurations. We translate the specs, stress-test the load analysis, and flag the gaps
between what’s in the brochure and what your home actually requires. When the
system design checks out and you’re ready to move forward, we connect you with
boutique electrical installation partners — craftsman-level firms selected for precision
and accountability. Not the lowest bidder. The right fit.
What we do for clients
• Assess proposed solar, battery, EV charging, and microgrid systems before
contracts are signed — checking system sizing, load compatibility, code
compliance, and permit readiness.
• Identify the gap between what you’re being sold and what your home actually
requires — load profiles, panel capacity, roof structure, utility interconnection.
• Connect you with vetted, craftsman-level boutique installers who receive a well-
considered project before they touch a wire.
• Protect the long-term equity and asset value of your home — distinguishing
genuine capital improvements from expensive science experiments bolted to a
roof.
MEET THE FOUNDER
Bob Walton

President, The Energized Home
I don’t speculate. I verify.
That posture didn’t come from a marketing meeting. I spent twenty years as a Senior Project Engineer and Quality Control Lead Assessor at Underwriters Laboratories — the organization that tests and certifies the products your family depends on every day.
My job was to evaluate complex electrical systems against hard safety standards and give an honest verdict, regardless of what the manufacturer wanted to hear. No hedging. No “It’ll probably be fine.” Either it met the standard or it didn’t. That’s still my job.
The product category just changed. Today I bring four credential stacks to every client engagement:
| Discipline 1 Electrical Safety Engineering — two decades |
Discipline 2 Licensed NC Real Estate Broker — 20+ years |
| Discipline 3 Environmental Science & Industrial Hygiene |
Discipline 4 Web, Internet & Social Media Marketing |
Most energy advisors see one dimension of your project. I see all of them simultaneously: whether the system is safely sized for your home’s actual load profile, whether it’s code-compliant and permit-ready, and whether it’s a genuine capital improvement to your property or an expensive line item on a salesperson’s commission sheet.
The multi-disciplinary stack isn’t a marketing angle. It’s what makes the difference
between a system designed for a brochure and one designed for your specific home —
your panel capacity, your load profile, your roof structure, your utility interconnection,
your long-term asset value.
If you’ve already been pitched by two or three solar outfits and something felt off — the numbers were vague, the load analysis was missing, or the salesperson couldn’t
explain why they were recommending that specific inverter for your home — trust that
instinct. It’s usually right. You deserve a second opinion from someone who isn’t selling
the system.
